Time for cheer
Christmas is just around the corner. How did it get here so quickly? The weather has gone from mild to freezing and snow has been showing its white face often. I am exhausted right now, but I wanted to share some pictures. They are random ones that we have taken with our new camera. Happy Anniversary to ourselves!
P.S. The really blurry ones of the tree with a purp-ly sky are ones that I want to paint. The end.

Election Day
Beatrice is serious about voting. She reminds me of Uncle Sam in this picture.
If she could talk she would say "I want YOU to take me for walk!" or "Really Nelson?"

Recent Happenings
As you can tell from our blog, Rosalia and I are very inconsistent in our blogging efforts. But we will try to do better. <(^__^<)
Yesterday we were able to see our cute baby girl again via ultrasound. I can't believe that we will be holding her in about three months! During the ultrasound the technician did a 3D ultrasound. (I will have Rosalia post a picture of it later)
The other day we went to Burlington Coat factory while we waited for the radio in our Landcruiser to get fixed. While we were there, Rosalia discovered the baby section with thousands of tiny outfits for babies both boy and girl. After looking at the clothes for about 15 minutes I had to sit down because I was tired and still flustered with the amount of money we had to pay to get our Corolla repaired. Rosalia brought over a bit stack of baby clothes that she liked and asked me if I liked them too. While we were sorting through the clothes and piling them on my legs I tried to give my opinion on the little clothes but I drifted off to sleep. I imagine I looked a little like this while I tried to look at the clothes "yeeeaahh Rossssalllllllllllll that looooks nnnnnni........":
Rosalia was very loving and let me take a power nap. My neck hurt when I woke up because when I was sleeping my bobbing head wasn't being supported by anything.
Despite the pain in my neck I was satisfied with my power nap. I love power naps. I have mastered the art of the power nap and I owe it all to my missionary service. Anyways, after waking up I gave in and we decided to purchase one of the onesies because it was very colorful and soft.
I have been busy with school like usual and trying to figure out what I want to do for a career. It is hard to pin down exactly what I want to do, but I have a few ideas.
The last thing I will say is that our dog Beatrice has horrible puppy gas. It is not hard to tell when B lets one rip because the smell engulfs the entire room she is in within six seconds. It also tends to linger for a while. After she toots I usually yell out "B you stiiiiiiiiinnnnnk!" She looks at me with a face that says:
We might need to get her some different dog food.

23.4 Weeks/Attempt at a family picture
Here are some attempts at a family picture.
Here is a picture of my growing belly! I am really starting to feel pregnant these days as it continues to round out.
I have discovered that i do not like gaining weight. It stresses me out. I am constantly worried that I am going to suddenly turn into a huge pregnant marshmallow.
However, I am currently on track for what I should be gaining and I realize that I need to calm down and recognize the beauty of what my body is able to do, make a baby! And as long as our little girl is healthy I can handle gaining a few pounds.

19.4 Weeks
I figured I could do a little update on life right now. I am still at home, still jobless, while Nelson is working and going to school. I spend my days hanging out with my dog, cleaning, cooking, watering the garden, and resting. I am actually rather content, but who knows what is in store next! This morning I actually woke up at 5:45 to do the Insanity Full Body Work Out with a couple of other girls in my ward. There were a few modifications I had to make in some of the routines, but overall it was a blast. I haven't had such a good work out in a while.
Baby Survey:
How far along? 19.4 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I don't know, we don't have a scale. I don't think I've gained very much though.
Sleep: Not the best. The other night I couldn't sleep and then ended up getting major hip/back pain in my right side in the wee hours of the morning. ]= Fortunately I had Nelson there to give me a blessing and a massage.

Interesting Dreams- I have had the most bizarre dreams. Yesterday morning while I was in bed, waking up when I legitimately thought that Sam and Talmage were here at the house and that they had come in through our bedroom window. They were there to just grab something for Talmage while in town. I even thought I could hear someone playing on the piano. However, while I felt very aware of my body in my bed I couldn't seem to move it to get up and say anything. I really woke up a few minutes later and found out that none of this was true, of course. In the middle of last night I was sleeping soundly when all of the sudden I woke up, looked up at the ceiling and thought I saw a massive spider with glow in the dark feet. I immediately wrenched the covers over my head and tried crawling over Nelson to turn on the light. He was very confused and by the time I made it out from the covers and by the door I stepped on the extension cord on the floor and thought it was some other type of bug and jumped right back into bed. Then I had to convince Nelson to wake up enough to turn on the lights and check for the spider/bug. Again, nothing was there. I am glad that he loves me [=
Best moment this week: Well this past weekend I really started feeling the baby move! By far the coolest thing. I can even see my lower belly move when I feel her. Today she was pretty active for about twenty minutes straight just poking around. It is so exciting to finally feel her.
Worst moment this week: Thinking that there was a massive spider with glow in the dark feet above me in bed, hah.
Movement: She's moving!
Symptoms: I am still tired, my belly is getting bigger!

Sleep: All the time. I am soooo tired! I have never been so tired no matter how much I sleep in my entire life.
Interesting Dreams: I have had dreams about being a man. About having a baby girl, about escaping wintery fortresses. You name it, I have probably dreamed it.
Best moment this week: Yesterday we got to hear the baby's heartbeat!!! Best moment by far! It made everything so much more real. Also I am healthy and the doctor told me to put on more weight, haha.

Movement: Not yet
Symptoms: FATIGUE! I am nauseated most of the time. I am hungry most of the time. I gag just about every time I brush my teeth.
Food cravings: Cheese sandwiches. I have eaten one practically everyday. It just always sounds good. Also fried eggs and toast. I love love love fried eggs and toast.
Food aversions: Random things. I hate smelling garlic. I can smell it ten feet away in a cupboard.
Gender: Girl [=

Labor Signs: n/a
Belly Button in/ out: in
What I miss: SUSHI. I WANT SUSHI. And soft cheeses. Also being able to eat deli meat without stressing about making sure it got hot enough. Fortunately the NP said that I don't need to stress too much about the deli meat as long as I am not eating tons of it all of the time. Also she said that I can eat my eggs a little runny! That made me so happy.
What I am looking forward to: No longer feeling so sick and tired all of the time.
Weekly Wisdom: Eat often. If you keep your stomach with some food in it you just don't feel as bad.

Milestones: I already mentioned it, but we heard the baby's heartbeat! The baby is about the size of a lime (silly fruit comparisons...but it works I guess). [=
Oh and by the way I am pregnant if you didn't already guess...

Living with the Long's
Most people kind of grimace when I tell them that Nelson and I are sharing the house this summer with his parents and two younger siblings, here are my thoughts on the subject.
My in-laws are incredibly kind. I come home from work and Amy has cooked dinner. I am starving on campus and they bring me food from Panda Express. Lance installs a new little door so that we have our own space separated from the rest of the house (so in order to be alone we don't have to go all the way into our bedroom). I can't stress the food enough, Amy is ALWAYS cooking up something delicious, and it is so nice to be eating so well (I know Nelson especially appreciates it! I just get too tired most days to really try to cook...). Since we have our new beautiful puppy dog Beatrice they help watch her and take her out to go potty when we are away. They are really a blessing in our lives right now and we appreciate them so much!
I wouldn't say a summer living with your in-laws is best for most young couples, but I think we have a nice exception on our hands. [=

Summer Reading!
When I was a kid my parents made me participate in the summer reading program at the Provo Library. You had to read a certain number of books and if you reached the required number, you got a free t-shirt. I love getting free t-shirts! But, now that I am an old person, I don't get to participate in that program but I do my own summer reading program and it is fantastic.
During the semester it is difficult for me to find the time to read a book for fun because I know that if I do start reading a book, I will forget about the million other things I am supposed to do. Whenever there is a holiday break or if I am not taking classes during the summer, I read as many books as I can. I have been out of school for a week and I have read two books. Rosalia has probably read 20 something books in the past month or so of a lesser quality. I like to open up her books and read them to her out loud while I use sexy voices and act the scenes out. She doesn't enjoy my acting as much as I do. :) Anyways, here are the books I have read so far:

Beatrice
Rosalia has wanted a puppy for a long time. Even when we were dating, we would look at dog books together and cute pups for sale on the interwebs (as Rosalia calls it). Rosalia had told me that we needed to get a puppy or a baby. I finally agreed that it would be fun to get a puppy- my decision having nothing to do with me not wanting a baby. I like babies. Anyways, here are some pictures of our beautiful pup Beatrice.
This is right after we bought our little labradoodle (or Poobador) on May 27. She was the runt of the litter and extremely shy and quiet. She is now a feisty 9 week old pup.
Initially, we took puppy everywhere. She was so little and sleepy ancuddle. This is Beatrice in Rosalia's purse while we did some shopping at Macey's. We actually put her in the produce scale and she weighed in at just under five pounds.
After a few days of discussing names, we decided she was a Beatrice. We went to Petsmart and made it official with a cute little name tag.
Beatrice loves to cuddle (unless she is on one of her puppy energy rampages).
Our neighbor gave Beatrice a nice moose to chew on. She loves it!
Beatrice loves playing outside and is a very curious little pup.
She likes to run around in the sprinklers and attack them.
This is Beatrice playing with our friend's dog Peaches. Peaches is faster than Beatrice, but Beatrice is stronger. This picture was taken a couple weeks ago and now I think Beatrice is just as fast as Peaches and bigger too.
We take Beatrice with us in the car.
Beatrice and Rosalia cuddling outside on a blanket.
Beatrice likes to lay on the grass and think about puppy stuffs.
She also loves to chew on anything!

Thursdays are ok
Today while I was at work, I needed to take a break from looking at my computer screen because my eyes were killing me. I looked out the window in my office and stared at one of the two 10 story cranes that is being used to build the new life sciences building. It gave me an idea for a poem. Here it is.
The Crane
There's a crane outside my window
and he's calling my name
He's hovering up in the sky
He tells me to join him
"The weathers just fine
and the view is wonderfully divine!"
I politely refuse and he looks confused
and replies with a sad "Well...Why?"
I look up to him and point to my arms
and tell him "I just can't fly."
"Can't fly?" he yelled from up in the sky
"Have you ever just once even tried?"
"Yeah I did back when I was a kid,
but its been a really long time."
"Now is the time to try again
I just know you'll be able to fly."
"OK I will give it a shot,
I guess there's no reason to be shy."
I step to the edge of the window pane
and my breathing flows in with gasps
I close my eyes and reach out my hands
and leap out as far as I can
It doesn't take long to know this is wrong
cause gravity is pulling me down
I hit the ground with such great force
that I can't even let out a sound
My femur is broken into 3 pieces
and I'm not sure the shape of my spine
As air flows back into my sad lungs
I scream as I look to the sky
"I guess this proves that I can't fly!"
I lay my face down in the grass
"At least you did your best and tried,
now lets get you off of your leg."

Today I walked to school under the blistering 80 something degree sun with my beautiful Rosalia. She told me I looked like I was going on a hike. I looked at myself and agreed that I did. I was wearing an A's hat, Smiths t-shirt, khaki shorts, and old grey Reebok shoes I got back in high school. I looked at my reflection on the side of a Honda Civic and realized that I was dressed exactly like my father!
The other day I was thinking about my dad and had a morbid/silly thought. I imagined I was at my dad's funeral. I walked over and looked into the pine box that my father's body was resting in. My dad was old and grey and wearing his favorite Grateful Dead shirt that says "Make Love Not War" and khaki shorts. I giggled to myself and then called my dad and told him about my little day dream. He loved the idea and said that that is exactly what he wants to be buried in. I heard my mom say "Oh no you won't!" in the background. Yep, khaki shorts for life!
(My dad and sister chillin by the ocean)
My dad has a strange obsession with khaki shorts. I am not quite sure when it started, but I can say that he owns at least 11 pairs of khaki shorts. Whenever he goes thrift store shopping he picks up another pair because as we all know, you can never have enough khaki shorts. I wonder if he will continue wearing khaki shorts when he is old?The other day I was thinking about my dad and had a morbid/silly thought. I imagined I was at my dad's funeral. Happenings.
We love food. We have been doing lots of things lately. Mainly work and school, but on occasion we have fun! We are on a soccer team and we are doing pretty well. Also we eat a lot. Here are just some random pictures from the past few months. Forgive the terrible picture quality, they were all taken on my (semi) smart phone.
Nelson is so cool. He likes to chill in outer-space. He just watched 2001 Space Odyssey and another one about encounters with the third kind? Alien stuff.
Gourmandise is my favorite. I would like one of their chicken pesto paninis right now.Currently missing this little girl and her parents from our lives. Darn Houston.
Here is Nelson demonstrating how happy we are to be eating at Five Guys. So tasty. I love burgers.
Here is some pasta we cooked up with fresh sauce and yummy veggies.
Our back yard is green! Yay! And since this picture has been taken it is even more green and flowers are blooming. Spring is beautiful.
I almost bought these sunglasses. Now I wish I had...
mushroomy spinach pasta with chicken.
pecan crusted chicken with a mixed green salad with a mustardy-apricoty-and other stuff dressing. Nom.
The only picture I took of the cinnamon rolls I made...terrible picture and I definitely stuffed too many into one dish...but they were DELICIOUS. (this was with the recipe on the blog from Amy).
